“Donuts with Dad” by Margaret Bernstein is a sweet story of a daddy-daughter day on the town. From doing his daughter’s hair and dressing up to go out to eat, to shooting hoops and watching the sunset, the father in this story is the epitome of an involved dad—with no cell phones or tablets in sight. The book features a lilting rhyme pattern and adorable illustrations of a spirited little girl and her attentive dad doing a myriad of activities and enjoying each other’s company. This book is the perfect bedtime story because it is timeless and shows the special relationship that can be nurtured and developed when dads are involved in their kids’ lives.
