Maria Shamkalian is a third-generation teacher and a passionate advocate for early childhood education. Besides supervising a network of learning centers, she runs a food program that provides children with free hot meals daily and hosts an annual Bliss of Giving Festival. Maria is committed to fighting bullying by teaching young children the beauty of diversity and the importance of accepting yourself for who you are.
Sunny the Yellow Bunny
Sunny is a nice and friendly bunny who is bullied by others because of the color of his fur. After opening up to his mom, Sunny learns how to accept himself and makes friends. This rhyming story, followed by a variety of classroom and home activities catered towards different learning styles, teaches children three important life lessons: to treat others kindly, to love themselves despite the differences, and to be close with their families.
