Milo and the Green Wagon
This story is based on a true story drawn from the writer's own childhood. Similar to an experience Lisa once shared with her brother, Milo and his friends fix an old wagon and use it to collect food and clothing for those in need. The author's heartwarming story teaches children about generosity, selflessness and, most importantly, about love and respect for all people, no matter what their stature of life. Umina's clever words and expressions will entice you right up until the very end when Milo and his friends' compassion is rewarded with a surprise visitor at Sunday service; a visitor that makes all of their acts of kindness well worth the effort.

Milo and the Green Wagon is a Christian children's picturebook promoting the good works of the real-life Action Changes Things (ACT) Mission food drives. Part of the Milo series starring an anthropomorphic, cuddly white bear, Milo and the Green Wagon teaches young readers about the important role God plays in all our lives, and follows Milo's idea of using a green wagon to collect donations ranging from children's books to blankets, toys, baby food, and groceries. "As the ACT Mission team walked back to their van, Mary noticed a man sleeping on a park bench. 'Do we have a blanket for the man sleeping on the park bench?' asked Mary. Matt's mom replied, 'Yes, here's a soft, blue blanket.' Mary gently covered the man and said, 'This should keep you warm.' The man opened his eyes, smiled and said, 'Thank you.'" The bright, cartoony illustrations add a heartwarming touch to this positive-minded message about compassion and charity work in God's name.

Milo and the Green Wagon is a true gift for families. This precious story teaches children that they, too, can make a difference in our world by reaching out to people in need; Small efforts can add up to tremendous results! Author Lisa Umina and Milo teach us that there is true joy in giving to others.

This is a great book about giving. Letting children know that there are people who are less fortunate than others. Teaching them about giving, sharing and being selfless is important and that they can reach out to people in need can make a difference in their lives. "It is in the little things you do that miracle are created, when we do for the least of our brothers, we do for God" Matt 25:40. What a great illustration by Chad Thompson who brought the book to life. I highly recommend this book.

Author Lisa Umina s Milo book series gives children a compelling message that children can talk to God anytime, anywhere, about anything. In Umina s latest book, Milo and the Green Wagon, we see how a discarded green wagon motivates Milo to help the poor. This book is aimed for older children, but will be enjoyed by children 2 and up because of the attractive illustrations. --Fatih & Family, FaithandFamilymag.com, The Magazine of Catholic Living

This is a great book to let children know, in a gentle and age-appropriate way, that there are those who are less fortunate and require a helping hand. One of the great principles of the Bible that young people, as well as those of us who are older, need to learn is what Jesus said in Matthew 25:40. "Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." It is good for them to see in a story such as this that many people are motivated by their Christian principles to assist those who are in need. I give this book a hearty recommendation to help develop in young readers a sense of compassion and a determination to do what they can to help. Other books in the Milo series are Milo Moments and Milo Finds His Best Friend. Wayne Walker Stories For Children Magazine

Milo Finds His Best Friend
Milo Finds His Best Friend This book is a must for parents to introduce God to their children and more importantly show children that they can openly communicate to God and start a relationship with Him by just talking to God.

The author presents an ideal teaching tool for young children. Nicely illustrated, it teaches reading while instilling values at an early age. She makes interesting poetic plays on words and writes in a witty style that adults will also appreciate. Concise, clever, and insightful, it's an enhancement to any library. Review based on original first edition Milo with a Halo.

Milo With a Halo is a wonderful book that will give you the warm fuzzies. It is written in simple terms and offers basic concepts that children can understand. When children first learn about God, it is sometimes hard for them to grasp the idea of being able to talk to someone they have not met and can not see. In a comical and refreshing way, the author conveys the message that, even when no one else can be bothered, God is always your friend and will always be there when you need Him. The book is funny, light-hearted and beautifully illustrated. Great for children learning about God and even for adults who may have forgotten about that one Person they can always rely upon! Get one for yourself and one for that special little one in your life. Review from original Milo with a Halo

This book not only reminds us how to live our life, but it also reminds us that we all have a child within us. No matter how young or old we are we all need to have faith in God.

SFC Magazine Review by Irene Roth Synopsis: Milo sets out to find a best friend. He asks Andy the ant, Copy the cat, Bonnie the blue jay, Betty the bee, Freddy the frog, Mach the mole, Benny the bunny, Tommy the tiger, Frank the fish, Pete the pig, and Harriett the horse to be his friend, but they all refused. Milo was devastated and hurt. Finally he asks God to help him in his distress. And God gives him a wonderful answer, one that will soothe and comfort him forever. Overall thoughts: This is a wonderful book with a great lesson. It is a great way of introducing the concept of God to children. Umina shows that it is possible to talk to God and to have a close relationship with him. God is always there for us like no one else. And He could be there as our best friend. All we have to do is reach out to Him. What a great message for kids.

I am constantly on the look out for quality books for children dealing with faith related topics and was thrilled to find Milo Finds His Best Friend! Umina's Milo is an irresistable character who is sure to be a hit with readers young and old. The book's major theme is that God is with us always and is truly our very best friend and companion. This is a message that we all need in our lives, whether we're 3 or 93, and parents will find great joy in sharing it with the precious children in their lives. The books use of rhyme and repetition will appeal to even the youngest of readers. This would be a great book for any young child - also a great gift for Baptism or First Communion celebrations! I will be waiting for more adventures with Milo and looking forward to sharing them with my family!

Young ones can learn about God in a comical, humorous and witty way through a cuddly character named Milo. Moments makes kids giggle by tickling their inquisitive natures and by light-heartedly bringing religion into everyday life.
Midwest Book Review | 10/12/2011
Milo Moments is a Christian picturebook featuring the return of the beloved innocent white bear with a halo, Milo. Instead of a narrative story, each page of Milo Moments features a different one-sentence though from Milo, with an accompanying color illustration, such as "When God calls, He never gives you time to pack", "I am taking a picture of love so it lasts longer", and "God loves the world so much, He gave us YOU!" A gentle, read-aloud book that reinforces faith, love, and hope, written in the author's sincere belief that anyone can talk to God anywhere, anytime, about anything.
