Demetrius Cameron-Lee Smith entered the world on December 13, 1995.  When he reached the age of 3, he entered the Montessori School at Holy Rosary.  As a community, we were forever changed by this child.  Demetrius brought a love of the universe, his fellow human beings, and most of all God with him.  He readily spread this love to all he encountered.  During his time at the Montessori School at Holy Rosary, Demetrius courageously fought brain cancer three times from the age of 5 until age 12.  Tragically, he lost his battle in May 2008.  Through our grief as a community, as well as our own personal grief at the loss of this phenomenal child, we realized that we needed to share his story with the world.  It would be selfish to keep the gifts he gave us solely for ourselves.  To know Demetrius is to be a better human being for he only saw the good in humanity and the world.  God’s love so permeated this child that to know Demetrius helped you know His love a little better for yourself.
